HISTORY
HISTORY

“XSION Transdisciplinary Innovation International Forum” is originated from the 2012 “IT Next”, which is a seminar based on the cloud technology trend. Responding to the fact that Taiwan’s cloud industry has mature research and technology ability, but must corporations don’t have visibility in the global market. It may be due to the lack of integration and still keeping the OEM manufacturer thinking.

Combining feedbacks from domestic and international industry predecessors, success factors of products and services must have 3 conditions, business strategy, innovative technology application, and user experience. They are not only important to the company itself, but also to the products and services. Therefore, the transformation of the event in 2016 will embedded these 3 major conditions as a development foundation to provide more contents to share successful business models and potential applications and have in-depth discussions.

GOAL

XSION’s activities will close to three major successful factors, business strategy, innovative technology application, and user experience and highlight the integration among them. In hopes that domestic companies and related professionals will be inspired to bring out a new way of thinking.

This year’s XSION unites domestic and international transdisciplinary elites’ thinking and execution power, aggregates associations, academia, and media powers to become the most significant user experience platform and be a better vision for Taiwan enterprise Innovation.

THEME

In order to providing Taiwan industries with integration thinking and innovation capability and bring out more cooperation opportunities among related fields, the theme of the year is “Floating Vision.” There are 6 subjects established; technology innovation, thinking innovation, content innovation, visual innovation, financial innovation, and interactive innovation. We look forward to inspiring all participants with new thinking. And we encourage cross-borders, industries and talents exchanging ideas and market experience so to find potentials. The 3 “floating visions” are;

  • Floating among countries – innovative thinking, view of new trend, and technology breakthrough will flow to the world by broadcasting successful models with digital media.
  • Floating among industries –the concept of leading applications among various fields and industries can be learned from one another.
  • Floating among talents – encourage more communication among levels, departments, and teams to achieve cooperation and creation.

Customer experience value gradually gained much attention. How do we quantify the value of experience and make links with business results? When operating the PDCA cycle to make improvement, how to utilize new technologies and precise metrics? What are key points we should pay more attentions? And to hold what kind of viewpoint? Mr. Endo will use beBit’s real cases to explain the idea.

Many people have heard IBM and Design Thinking, but not really understand what they are actually doing? Many institutions even disagree the design thinking methods can really apply to real jobs. In the rapid iteration process, we often rush to problem solving. Decisions are made under a hurry situation without good thinking process or listening users’ opinions. Besides, the team targets are not aligned to give a misunderstanding of “no time for design thinking.” And many digital businesses are focused on “business models,” “business values,” “technology sharing,” but ignore the “users.” They forget that even the service target of a high-tech company is “people.” In this meeting, the speaker will introduce; 1. IBM Design Studio, 2. IBM Design Methods, 3. Using a real case to show the point from a power and water company, its users, and IBM technical experts collaborated contribution.

Product concepts meet the user needs seems to be a matter of course, but there are great difficulties in the implementation. According to his many years’ industrial experience, the speaker will share his opinions in the topic of human-oriented innovation; the innovative applications, methods and challenges.

Albert Chen

Internet and IoT technologies accelerated business transformation and financial innovation. In particular, the rise of electronic commerce, mobile commerce, online small loans, third-party payment, P2P network loan platform, public financing, Internet payment, Internet banking, virtual currency and block chain has directly impacted the traditional financial business models and survivals. And all walks of life have to face the challenges. Therefore, it is worth exploring how to meet customers' new requirements with innovative thinking or service model.

David Chen

The word “Innovation” has become a buzz word for every single organization trying to find new revenue sources, or stop the decline of their core businesses before it’s too late. However, it has also become a dirty word where many organizations are throwing in huge amount of resources to create the so-called “innovation labs” or acquired potential startups that threaten their core businesses without much success. The idea of finding the sweet spot between business goals, user needs and technology feasibility is not a new, recent idea but yet many organizations are still struggling to get it right. In this presentation, I would like to share some of my team’s success and failures in driving innovation in large organizations through real-life case studies we have embarked.

In recent years, the rapid rise and fall of technical products often cause companies' difficulties and failures in transformation. The speaker will share his experience in Garmin to reveal how to use core technology to design cross-cutting innovative products in different areas for Garmin.

1. Responsive web design has become the main stream of web design. The application of IOT(internet of things) grows in high speed, Ubiquitous embedded intelligence combined with pervasive analytics will drive the development of systems that are alert to their surroundings and able to respond appropriately. In this presentation, I will talk about how typography should respond accordingly.
2. Introducing some typographic concepts related to responsive design, including Latin and Chinese types.
3. How to use a font rendering software similar to Multiple Master to provide real time responsive fonts to change font weights, widths and elements on mobile devices, Internet of Things devices and even on web pages according to the surroundings(e.g. ambient lights, resolutions or font sizes.) to show a more comfortable UI and to gain a better UX?

Panel Subject:From the human factors engineering to user-centered design – the origin and future of ergonomics

The user-centered design is one of the most important methods of products and services innovation today. Design thinking has become the mainstream method that businesses are scrambling to learn and adopt for new products and services developments. Many of these efforts are observing, recording, and discovering users’ daily behaviors interact with existing products and processes. However, when did these behavior- based products and system designs start? What historical events and products highlighted the importance of the user experience? And who and what products first promoted these activities? Professor Lin has been in the human factors engineering and human-computer interaction research and teaching more than twenty years and published hundreds of research papers. He has conducted user interaction Evaluation and Research in large ships and weapons systems, nuclear power plant control room, interactive mouse and keyboard for a variety of devices, VR / AR visual and interactive applications, and even general webs and softwares. With years of experience, Professor Lin will share the domestic and international development process of ergonomics and explore the effects and future directions in th human factors engineering for user experience and interaction design.

Chiu-Hsiang Lin

Panel Subject:To apply the concept of man-machine interface and import on the corporate information system development.

Researches are focused on the use of "user-centered design", "interface design guidelines", "ontology," "knowledge engineering" and "design of experiment," establish various (mobile) information systems or platforms, and using "usability engineering" to verify the system or platform’s usability. Professor Su will share his experience in helping many IT companies to earn the MOEA’s Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) cases with their applications of man-machine interface technologies in recent years.

Chris K.W. Su

Panel Subject:User experience measurement and persuasive technology application

With technological development and industrial restructuring, the measuring focus of the interaction between people and technology products gradually shifted from “usability” to “user experience.” This change opens an unknown, rich and interesting researching direction in the generalized human-computer interaction field. The speaker will use his 4-year experience in building UX evaluation tools to introduce user experience assessments. Also, he will use real cases of persuasive technology to reveal how good UX can create value and shape user behaviors making the world become better because of good human-technology products interactions.

Cheng-Jhe Lin

Panel Subject:Discussion of human-computer interaction from the views of ergonomics and user experience

In this “slide generation” of information explosion, people are tightly connected with their modern mobile devices. From "human nature" to consider the design of human-computer interaction interface, from "design thinking" to discuss user experience and needs, and from the views of ergonomics to do design product and interface.

Chih-Fu, Wu

Panel Subject:Wearable devices data collection, analysis of UX motivate elderly health exercises
